The Beginning of My Photography Journey

In 2015, I spent around four months in Prague, Czech Republic. I picked up a camera and took a photography class. Since then, I haven’t set the camera aside. Well, maybe when my creative spark is missing in action, but that’s besides the point.

I spent most of my time shadowing a friend I had made while I was living in the city. I learned everything about photography just by observing and going out to shoot the streets of Prague. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to start to be honest with you.

Prague is a place full of history and art, which makes it a great city to visit and document with a camera. It’s also a cultural center due to the fact the country was under an authoritarian regime for over 50 years. First, the Nazis occupied it in 1938 during WWII, and then the Soviet Union took over after the war. It wasn’t until the Velvet Revolution in 1989 where the peaceful uprising occurred and the country became a democracy. So, you could say the people of Czech Republic don’t take freedom for granted.

With that said, here is where it all started. This collection of photographs are my favorite shots I took while I lived in the city and learned how to shoot.
